Success Is In Your Hands: Encouragement for Single Moms

by Cassandra Mack

Did you know that right where you are you have the power to create the life you want – to live your dreams, feel more fulfilled, put some of the stress to rest, accomplish your goals, provide for your children and design the kind of life that you can feel good about?

You really do have power, because a quality life starts on the inside. It’s not about how much money you have, where you live, how prestigious your career is or how much education you have. It’s about your mindset – your beliefs, your willpower and your attitude. So, if you are going to succeed and stand strong as a single mother, two things need to happen: First, you must believe in your heart of hearts that you can make it as a single mother no matter what things look like externally. This is your faith walk. Second, you must know in the core of your soul that it is possible to achieve your goals and live your vision. This is divine grace coupled with purpose. When these two things come together: faith and divine grace coupled with purpose, you have the foundation to create a life worth living.

What’s important for you to know is that there are thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of single mothers, some with more resources, others with less, who are blazing trails, excelling in their careers, starting businesses, going back to school, purchasing homes and achieving things they’ve never achieved before. Life doesn’t play favorites. So if they are doing it, then you can do it too.

Believe it or not, success really is a mindset. It starts on the inside with your beliefs then extends to your outer world with your choices and habits. Whether you call it confidence, self-esteem or the power of positive thinking, it all comes down to believing that you have what it takes to not only make it, but to make it on your terms. It’s also knowing that whatever you don’t have you can borrow, barter, outsource or learn.

If you believe in your abilities, nurture your dreams and act as if it is possible to live the life you envision, then you will do what is necessary to bring about your desired results. The opposite is also true. If you believe that you do not have what it takes to be successful, then your own self-limiting beliefs will prevent you from going after your dreams.

You have too much to offer and too much to do for yourself and your children to allow limited thinking to sabotage your success.

Today, remind yourself that you’ve got strengths, talents and abilities that are valuable and marketable. You have what it takes to make it.
